Dining Experience

Meal times are about enjoying the food. The experience of dining also plays a key part in helping us to maintain our quality of life and health.

On your arrival at Woodlands House our care team will get an understanding of your dietary needs and personal preferences and make you aware of the alternative options that may suit your appetite. Our Chefs regularly meet with the Director of Care and Nurses. They will be aware if a resident is losing or gaining significant amounts of weight and will work with care and clinical colleagues to resolve the issue.

Our baking and home cooked meals change daily. At Woodlands House Nursing Home, we are proud to support local suppliers. All products are quality checked by our experienced chefs before being approved for consumption. The variety of dishes includes traditional dishes as well as the more exotic depending on individual tastes.

Meal Times

Each day starts with a good breakfast, served at a time that suits each resident. During the day, there’s a main meal and a lighter meal in the evening– with the main meal served at Lunch between 12.30pm to 14.00 and tea times 16.45 to 18.30 we offer plated meal choices. And if one-to-one support is required, a carer will sit with the resident to help them eat their meal at a comfortable pace.

While residents can choose to dine in their own room, we do encourage residents to eat together in the dining room areas so they can make the most of this valuable social time.

Fresh water in residents’ rooms is refreshed regularly. There are two fresh water dispensing system one by the nurse’s station and one in the sitting room giving residence instant access if needed.
